As part of my submission for the Ethical design module in the second year of my degree, I created “Woke”, an app that aims to combat the fast fashion industry by introducing a voucher-generating point system to ethical brands and secondhand shops in the “Woke” network. Like a Tesco Clubcard, app users will be able to scan their unique QR code upon checking out to earn reward points. Once the user has enough points to generate a voucher, they can do so and use that voucher in any of the ethical stores in the network. This system not only encourages people to shop locally and ethically but also keeps the money circulating in these businesses. With “Woke”, I hope to raise awareness about how disastrous the fast fashion industry is, but most importantly how we as consumers can help stop it by doing our part. This project has made   me change the way I view clothes and High Street brands, I wish it would have the same effect on others and encourage them to do their part, stay fashionable, stay sustainable and stay “Woke.”
